welcome
As an oil painter in the postmodern era, I am aware of the history of art preceding me that is undeniably interconnected. Despite this inevitable link to whom came before, I feel a need to realize my personal aesthetic and continue the tradition of painting by representing the time and age with which I am familiar. From my experience with popular culture, I believe the act of painting has been mostly abandoned, and the life of a painter is actually a commitment to seclusion. Reflecting this lifestyle I focus on the ambience of isolation. Just by choosing to paint contemporary imagery, I am documenting a time period that represents the end of the pictorial representation. - Joey Leonard
